France are beatable, says Babalade

The former Nigeria international is sure the Super Eagles can fly above Les Bleus in Monday’s second round game at the ongoing Fifa World Cup.

Former Super Eagles defender Ajibade Babalade has dismissed the notion that France will make a mince meat of Nigeria to book a quarter final ticket at the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil.
Both sides meet for the first time in the history of the competition at the Estádio Nacional de Brasilia, Brasília on Monday evening.

The hard tackling player popularly called Kunde in his playing days said he is surprised that some soccer pundits are jittery because Stephen Keshi’s men will be facing the former world champions. According to him, if the Eagles could give highly rated Argentina a run for their money in their last group game, France shouldn’t be a wild goose chase.
“Yes everybody have been talking about France but I can tell you sincerely that we are not afraid of France,” Babalade told Goal.
“ Its going to be eleven players against eleven players and by the grace of God the Super Eagles will emerge victorious.

“ Who are France when Nigeria can play so well against a more daring and formidable team like Argentina that is loaded to the hilt with some of the fieriest attackers in the world like Lionel Messi, Aguero, Di Maria, Hugain and the rest?,” he continued.
The former team manager of Nigeria Premier League outfit Shooting Stars however gave some recipe on how to shock the highly rated Europeans.
“The Eagles should avoid conceding free-kicks at the edge of the box which caused the two goals Argentina scored against us.

“ They must not lose concentration in the entire duration of the match. The players must believe in themselves and should endeavor to take their chances as they come.

“ If they convert their chances we may even wrap up the games earlier than expected in the match against France.
“The Eagles must also avoid getting yellow cards in the France encounter which may eventually cost expulsion of dependable players in subsequent matches like the quarter-finals stage.

“All the players must be involved in warding off set pieces it is not the duty of defenders alone, it’s the duty of all the players involved on the pitch because set pieces is almost half a goal like it happened against Argentina when Lionel Messi scored against us. Full concentration and man marking is key to warding off goals in set pieces,” he concluded.
